It seems that Apple has quietly discontinued the 3.5mm to 3.5mm Lightning Adapter, which was an essential part of almost every iPhone user’s device.
It allowed users to connect their devices to various audio systems and headphones.
As the company moves toward using USB-C instead of the proprietary Lightning port, this adapter might be the last remaining accessory that will work with the iPhone.
The 3.5mm to 3.5 millimeter adapter was first introduced in 2016 alongside the release of the iPhone 7.
Due to the removal of the 3.5mm jack, many iPhone users had a hard time connecting their old wired headphones to their new devices.
The adapter provided a workaround for users who wanted to use their old wired headphones with their new iPhone 7 or iPhone XS.
The 3.5mm connector phaseout started in 2023, and the iPhone 15 was the first to feature the USB-C standard in September.
For years, prior to the release of the new iPhone models, the Lightning adapter was included with them.
Many iPhone users started using wireless alternatives, such as the Bluetooth AirPods and the Lightning Earpods.
As a result, the 3.5mm to 3.5mm adapter was no longer included with the device. It was still available at Apple stores, where it was priced at around $9. Now, it seems that the adapter is no longer available in the company’s stores.
Although the 3.5mm to 5mm adapter no longer appears on Apple’s US and UK websites, it is still available in other countries, such as Norway, France, and Sweden.
Despite the company’s decision to remove the adapter, some iPhone users are still frustrated by the change.
However, it is clear Apple is committed to the USB-C technology and will continue supporting it in the future.
