A devastating quad bike accident in the Northern Territory has claimed the life of a 23-year-old musterer, leaving behind a community in mourning. Alasdair Cameron, a talented young Queenslander, was riding a quad bike at Conways Station, about 180km from Katherine, when the tragedy occurred on Saturday.
A Fatal Fall
It’s understood that Cameron fell from the quad bike just before 12.20pm. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, including CareFlight and clinic staff, the young man was declared deceased at the scene.
A Kind Soul Remembered
Tributes have been pouring in on social media, painting a picture of Cameron as an extremely kind and adventurous young man. Friends have described him as “one of a kind,” with a heart of gold and a passion for his work as a contract stockman.
Mikayla Jade, a close friend, wrote a heartfelt tribute, saying: “The wildest of wild you were definitely one of a kind… I never thought you would’ve become one of my best friends and a new little big brother.” She fondly remembered Cameron’s kind nature, saying he always looked out for her and protected her.
Living His Dream
Another loved one remembered Cameron as someone who was “living out his absolute dream” at the time of his accident. “He wouldn’t have wanted it any other way,” they said. “This week our world stopped turning. We can’t begin to fathom life without you Alasdair Cameron.”
A Cowboy at Heart
Cameron’s friends and family will remember him for his cheeky grin, cowboy swagger, and his amazing team of dogs. He was a true outdoorsman, with a passion for spear fishing and the beach.
Community in Mourning
Locals in Monto, Cameron’s hometown, 500km north of Brisbane, are planning a tribute event in December to celebrate his life and share their favorite memories of the young musterer.
Investigation Ongoing
NT Police are currently investigating the incident, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
As the community comes to terms with this tragic loss, one thing is clear: Alasdair Cameron’s kind heart, adventurous spirit, and love of the outdoors will be deeply missed.
