A senseless act of violence has shaken the community of Cambridge Park in Sydney’s west, leaving two innocent lives lost and a neighborhood in mourning.
Hoa Tek Chien, 69, and his wife Heang Kim Gau, 68, were found stabbed to death at their popular takeaway shop, Buzzy Bee’s Burger House, on Saturday morning.
A Mysterious Attack
Police were called to the scene on Oxford St around 9:40 am following reports of an assault. When they arrived, they found the bodies of the husband and wife duo, who had been brutally stabbed. An investigation is now underway, with the Homicide Squad assisting Nepean Police Area Command in piecing together the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
A Community in Shock
The news has sent shockwaves throughout the community, with heartbroken residents flocking to the takeaway shop to pay their respects to the slain couple. Regular customer Wendy, who lives in nearby Jordan Springs, said she was devastated by the news. “They had the best takeaway in the area. I asked them to open a store in Jordan Springs, but the dad told me just last Friday that he was about to retire,” she said.
A Personal Touch
Wendy, who had developed a close relationship with the owners, remembered how they would greet her by name when she placed her orders. “If I changed my order, they would say ‘you changed your order tonight.’ They were great to their customers. They’ve been here for so long,” she said, struggling to hold back tears.
A Sinister Video Emerges
A worker from a nearby business revealed that a video had been posted on Facebook, showing a person breaking into the takeaway shop. “It showed one guy wearing all black,” the worker said. “He was on top of the shop and then he jumped down behind it.” The authenticity of the video has not been confirmed, but it has sparked outrage among locals.
Tributes Pour In
As news of the tragedy spread, locals took to social media to express their horror and condolences. “Robbery gone wrong, ended in both their lives being taken from them, rest in peace, Cambo won’t be the same without them,” one man wrote. Another wrote: “What a tragic morning for locals in Cambridge park. Busy Bee takeaway robbed and two lives taken.”
A Senseless Loss
The community is still reeling from the senseless loss of two lives, taken in the prime of their retirement. As the investigation continues, one thing is clear: Hoa Tek Chien and Heang Kim Gau will be deeply missed by the community they served for so many years.
