Tragedy Strikes Cambridge Park
Saturday morning was like any other in Western Sydney, until a shocking discovery at Buzzy Bee’s Burger House on Oxford Street in Cambridge Park, near Penrith, left a community in mourning.
The bodies of the shop’s beloved owners, Hoa Tek Chiem, 69, and Heang Kim Gau, 68, were found with significant injuries, sending shockwaves throughout the neighborhood.
A Confronting Scene
The gruesome discovery was made by family members, who stumbled upon the horrific sight at around 9:40 am. NSW Police said the scene was “confronting,” and it’s hard to imagine the trauma the family must have endured.
The Investigation Unfolds
NSW Police, assisted by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, sprang into action, establishing a crime scene and launching an investigation. As they dug deeper, they arrested a 31-year-old man at a home in Canley Heights just after 12:30 am on Sunday.
A Targeted Attack?
Police believe the alleged attack was targeted, and all three individuals involved were known to each other. “All motives are being considered at this point in time,” said NSW Police Detective Superintendent Michael Cantrell. While the motive remains unclear, authorities have assured the public that there is no further threat.
The Suspect in Custody
The 31-year-old man has been charged with two counts of domestic violence-related murder and was refused bail. He will appear at Parramatta Local Court later today. As the investigation continues, police are also reviewing video footage of the incident that has been circulating on social media.
A Community in Mourning
Hoa and Heang were more than just shop owners – they were pillars of the community, having run the takeaway shop for an impressive 30 years. Their tragic deaths have left locals reeling. “Great people, great food. It’s heartbreaking,” one local told 7NEWS. “The dad was almost ready to retire.”
