A-list actor Sean Penn, 64, has made his red-carpet debut with his new girlfriend, Valeria Nicvov, 30, and the internet can’t stop talking about it!
The couple attended the Marrakech International Film Festival, and their age gap has left fans divided.
A Glamorous Red Carpet Debut
Penn and Nicvov, a model and actor from Moldova, looked absolutely stunning as they walked the red carpet together. They were first spotted in September, and it’s clear that their romance is heating up. But not everyone is thrilled about their relationship.
“I Thought She Was His Daughter!”
Some fans were shocked when they saw Penn and Nicvov together, with some even mistaking her for his daughter! “I thought she was his daughter,” one person admitted. Others were more straightforward, saying that the 34-year age gap was “embarrassing” or just plain “nope.”
Critics Weigh In
The criticism didn’t stop there. Some people claimed that the age difference was “gross” and that Nicvov looked like Penn’s granddaughter. But not everyone was against the couple. One person defended Penn, saying that the commentary was “ageist” and sad.
Love Knows No Age
“I’m 62 and my partner is 36. We have been together 12 years. Age is just a number and it is only love and commitment that matters,” one fan argued. Another wrote that Nicvov was a “grown woman” and that, therefore, there was nothing wrong with the romance. Someone else claimed that the people complaining about their age gap were just “jealous” of them.
Penn’s Romantic Past
This isn’t Penn’s first rodeo, of course. He was previously married to Robin Wright, with whom he has two adult children, Dylan, 33, and Hopper, 30. He was also briefly married to Madonna in the eighties and recently split from his third wife, Leila George, 31, after just over a year of marriage.
From Single to Taken
Interestingly, Penn had said in a New York Times profile in June 2024 that he felt “thrilled every day” that he was single. “If I’m going to be in a relationship, I’m still going to be free, or I’m not going to be in it, and I’m not going to be hurting. I don’t sense I’ll have my heart broken by romance again,” he told the publication. Guess he changed his mind!
Penn’s Take on Marriage
In the same interview, Penn also opened up about one of his marriages, although he didn’t specify which one. He claimed that the background noise of his life was either Housewives of Beverley Hills or Love Island. “Not even being in the room – I’m not saying this to be cute – I was dying. I felt my heart, my brain shrinking. It was an assault,” he said. Ouch!
