Adrian Portelli, the billionaire who made headlines for his lavish spending on The Block 2024 auction day, is now facing legal troubles.
The South Australian authorities have charged him with running an unlawful lottery, along with his company LMCT+.
What’s the Allegation?
Portelli is facing nine counts of conducting or assisting in the conduct of an unlawful lottery, while his company LMCT+ is facing 10 counts of the same charge. The alleged offences took place between January 29 last year and May 16 this year.
Who is Adrian Portelli?
If you’re wondering who Adrian Portelli is, let’s give you a quick recap. He’s a promotions guru and property investor who made waves earlier this year when he purchased all five homes on offer at The Block 2024 auction day. Yes, you read that right – all five homes!
LMCT+: The Monthly Fee Lottery
So, what’s the deal with LMCT+? The company charges its members a monthly fee in exchange for shopping discounts and – here’s the catch – a chance to win in monthly draws. Sounds tempting, right? But apparently, it’s not as legit as it sounds.
From Lottery Winner to Charity Hero
Just earlier this week, Portelli made headlines again – this time for his generous act of giving away $150,000 worth of groceries in Sydney. The event drew a massive crowd, with some people lining up as early as 4am in Penrith and Fairfield West.
From The Block to Court
Portelli first made a name for himself as Block royalty after splurging $16.65 million on four Block homes in 2022 and 2023. Now, he’s set to face court on January 15. We’ll be keeping an eye on this story and updating you as more information comes in.
