Athlete-turned-media-sensation Rachael ‘Raygun’ Gunn has stolen the spotlight once again, this time at the glamorous GQ’s Australia Men of the Year Awards on Wednesday night.
The 37-year-old Olympian breaker walked the red carpet alongside her husband Samuel Free at Sydney’s White Bay Power Station, turning heads in a stunning black strapless dress with scale-like details and a lace midsection.
Gunn Brings Glamour to the Red Carpet
Gunn’s radiant makeup and loose, wavy hair perfectly complemented her show-stopping outfit, which she paired with a sleek black handbag.
The couple mingled with Australian celebrities and sporting legends, including Sam Worthington, Emma McKeon, and Eddie Betts, at the high-profile event.
The Night’s Big Winner: Sam Worthington
However, the evening wasn’t without its awkward moments. When Channel 7 reporter Sally Bowrey introduced Sam Worthington as Man of the Year, she mistakenly referred to his wife Lara by her maiden name, Bingle.
Worthington quickly corrected her, saying, “Worthington. Her name’s Lara Worthington. Jeez, it’s only been ten years.” The actor’s witty response left the audience in stitches.
Rachael ‘Raygun’ Gunn’s Man of the Year
When asked by The Daily Telegraph about her own man of the year, Gunn sweetly replied that it was her husband, who had been her rock throughout her breaking career.
“My husband is my man of the year because he has been absolutely phenomenal supporting me leading up to the Games,” she gushed. “And then he thought that he’d get a break after that,” she added with a laugh.
What’s Next for Rachael ‘Raygun’ Gunn?
Amid rumors that Gunn may be joining the cast of Channel 10’s I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! in 2025, the Olympian has been reflecting on her newfound fame.
In recent interviews, she’s spoken about the Olympic controversy surrounding her breakdancing routine, which included kangaroo jumps and snake-like slithers. While she’s announced her retirement from competitive breakdancing, Gunn says she still has a passion for dancing and is exploring new opportunities.
