A violent brawl involving up to 40 people in Melbourne’s outer west has left one man dead and several others injured.
The incident occurred on McBurnie Dr in Kurunjang on Friday evening, with police arriving to find a chaotic scene.
The Attack: A Targeted Ambush?
Police believe the attack was targeted, with the group of up to 40 individuals knowing each other. The brawl broke out shortly after 7 pm, with witnesses describing a bloody and violent scene. When police arrived, they found an 18-year-old Kurunjang man lying injured on the ground. Tragically, he died at the scene from his injuries.
Multiple Injuries and Arrests
Two others were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries: a 22-year-old Harkness man and a 15-year-old Harkness boy. The 22-year-old remains in hospital under police guard, while the 15-year-old has been charged with murder and will face a children’s court at a later date.

It’s believed that knives or machetes were used in the attack, with Acting Superintendent Kelly Walker saying that the community had a right to feel “unrest” after such a violent incident.
