If you’re one of Abbie Chatfield’s 500,000 Instagram followers, you might have seen her recent announcement about taking a break from social media.
The FBoy Island host posted a heartfelt video on Boxing Day, explaining that she needed some time off from online hate.
A Break from the Negativity
Chatfield opened up about feeling “quite depressed” due to the constant negative comments she receives daily. “I just want to have a break from everyone – from someone, every day, saying something negative about me or to me,” she shared. It’s understandable, given the hostility she faces online.
The Original Plan
Initially, Chatfield planned to take a week-long break, deleting the social media apps and encouraging her close friends to reach out to her via text if they needed anything. She even signed off with a cheery “Mwah” and a promise to see her fans next year.
But Then…
Fast-forward just five hours, and Chatfield was back on Instagram, posting festive photos, selfies showcasing her jewelry, and several TikTok videos. One of the videos even featured her boyfriend, Adam Hyde, singing a funny song titled “Where is my goblin?” for her.
Deja Vu?
This isn’t the first time Chatfield has made a dramatic social media exit. Last month, she announced she was “leaving the internet” after Donald Trump’s re-election as US President. However, that break didn’t last either, with Chatfield posting multiple times on the same day.
It seems like Chatfield might need a longer break from social media to truly disconnect from the negativity. But for now, her fans are happy to have her back online, sharing her life and humor with them.
