Domestic Violence Charges Land Designer in Hot Water
Famous fashion designer Wayne Cooper has found himself in trouble with the law once again.
The 61-year-old was arrested on Friday in northern NSW after allegedly breaching his bail conditions related to domestic violence charges.
A Troubled History
Cooper was initially arrested earlier this month for allegedly assaulting his wife, Elizabeth Adams, at a Bondi hotel. He was placed on strict bail conditions, which he allegedly failed to meet. This resulted in his arrest at 8am on Friday at his home in Myocum.
Bail Conditions Broken
According to reports, Cooper failed to report to police as part of his bail conditions, leading to his arrest. A NSW Police spokeswoman confirmed that the designer was taken to Byron Bay Police Station, where he was charged with one count of breach of bail.
Plea of Not Guilty
Cooper appeared in Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday via audio-visual link, where he was again released on bail. He has pleaded not guilty to the domestic violence-related common assault charges and is scheduled to face Waverley Local Court on May 19.
Another Charge to Contest
Cooper will also face an additional charge of contravening an AVO (Apprehended Violence Order) at the upcoming court hearing. It’s understood that he will contest this charge as well.
