A Sad Goodbye After 7 Wonderful Years
Miss Viet Kitchen, the popular southeast Asian restaurant in Port Adelaide, is shutting down after an incredible seven-year run.
The news has left local residents heartbroken, and it’s easy to see why.
Since opening its doors in 2018, Miss Viet Kitchen has been serving up delicious Vietnamese fare with a seafood twist, earning it the silver award at the 2023 Restaurant and Catering National Awards for Best Vietnamese Restaurant. But despite its success, the restaurant has decided to call it quits.
A Heavy Heart and a Final Goodbye
In a emotional post on social media, the Miss Viet team announced the impending closure of the restaurant, saying it’s been an “incredible journey” and thanking patrons for their support.
“We’re going to miss you all so much! Come and enjoy your favourite dishes and create some final memories with us in these last few weeks. Your presence will mean the world to us as we say goodbye,” the post read.
Fans and Loyal Patrons Share Their Goodbyes
The news sparked an outpouring of love and gratitude from fans and loyal patrons on social media, with many sharing their favorite memories of the restaurant.
“So very sad to hear this news. We have been going almost weekly since Holly and her team first opened. We hosted my husband’s 70th birthday at Miss Viet and it was fantastic,” one commenter wrote.
“I think I need to order 10x of my favourite menu items and pop them in the freezer so I can still get my fix. The only low so pho I know of, you’re my staple when I’m unwell, best in Adelaide (in my opinion),” another fan wrote.
A Bigger Trend: The Struggle of Small Businesses
While the exact reason for Miss Viet Kitchen’s closure remains unclear, it’s part of a larger trend of venue closures affecting small businesses. Many have been forced to shut down due to labour shortages, staff costs, and decreased consumer spending.
The closure of Miss Viet Kitchen is a huge loss for the local community, but we’ll always cherish the memories and delicious meals it brought us.
