If you’re a parent, you know how quickly things can go wrong, especially when water is involved.
Australian influencer Mitchell Orval has shared a terrifying story about a near-tragic incident on New Year’s Eve that’ll make you appreciate the importance of pool safety.
A Brush with Disaster
Mitchell and his fiancée, Chloe Szepanowski, were celebrating a friend’s birthday at the Sanctuary Cove resort on the Gold Coast with their two kids, Arti and Sunny. The family of four was sitting by the pool when two young kids, no more than 12 years old, approached them carrying an unconscious 3-year-old girl who had apparently drowned.
Instant Action
Luckily, Chloe sprang into action, grabbing the girl and trying to revive her. “She was blue – completely unconscious,” Mitchell wrote on Instagram. Thanks to Chloe’s quick thinking and the help of professional boxer Casey Caswell, the girl began vomiting and slowly regained consciousness. An ambulance was called, and the girl received medical attention just in time.
A Warning to Parents
This harrowing incident serves as a stark reminder to parents about the dangers of pool safety, especially when kids are around water. Mitchell emphasized that the girl had been wearing a swim jacket, which she apparently took off at some point, highlighting the need for constant vigilance. His message to parents is clear: never assume someone else is watching your kids, and never take your eyes off them, even for a split second.
Heroes of the Day
After the ordeal, Chloe took to Instagram to express her gratitude for the heroic efforts of the two young kids who brought the unconscious girl to their attention. The couple’s family, including Arti and Sunny, are understandably shaken but thankfully safe.
Love and Thanks
The couple has been through quite a journey since Mitchell proposed to Chloe on a beach at Tiwi Island in the Northern Territory last June. From building businesses to becoming famous on Instagram, they’ve overcome numerous challenges and have emerged even stronger. Following this near-miss, the family is, no doubt, more grateful for each other’s love and care.
