The music world is mourning the loss of Wayne Osmond, a member of the iconic family music group The Osmonds.
According to his family, Wayne passed away peacefully on New Year’s Day surrounded by his loving wife and children.
A Legacy of Faith, Music, and Love
In a statement, the Osmond family remembered Wayne as a devoted husband, father, and musician who touched the lives of many around the world. They said, “His legacy of faith, music, love, and laughter has influenced the lives of many people globally.” The family also shared a fun fact about Wayne, saying he would want everyone to know that “banana splits are the best dessert!”
A Life of Music and Resilience
Wayne was born in 1951 in Ogden, Utah, and began singing with his brothers as a barbershop quartet. The group later expanded to include his other siblings, becoming the famous Osmond family music act. Despite facing health challenges, including a battle with cancer and cognitive and hearing impairments, Wayne continued to perform and inspire fans around the world.
Overcoming Adversity
In 1994, Wayne’s health took a turn for the worse while touring with his brothers. He noticed he couldn’t play his saxophone due to throbbing headaches and knee problems. After a diagnosis of ependymoma cancer, Wayne underwent a 17-hour surgery and weeks of radiation therapy. He bravely returned to the stage, continuing to share his music with fans.
Remembering a Music Legend
Wayne is survived by his wife, Kathlyn White, their five children, and his siblings, including Virl, Tom, Alan, Merrill, Jay, Donny, Marie, and Jimmy. His family and fans will deeply miss him, but his legacy of music, faith, and love will live on. As his daughter Amy Cook shared on Facebook, Wayne was a “beloved husband and father” who will be cherished forever.
