Melbourne’s music scene is mourning the loss of one of its brightest stars, DJ Courtney Mills, who has died following an accident in Bali.
The 38-year-old DJ was a household name, with a massive following on social media, including 151,000 followers on Instagram and 25,000 followers on Soundcloud.
A Sudden and Tragic Accident
According to her sister Kiana Mills, Courtney suffered “life-threatening” injuries in an accident on Friday and was placed on life support.
Despite undergoing multiple surgeries, she sadly passed away on Sunday.
Kiana took to Instagram to share the devastating news with Courtney’s fans, saying “It is with such a heavy heart that we share the news of Courtney’s passing.”
A Sparkling Star Extinguished
Kiana described her sister as a “sparkling, shining star” whose vibrance and spark will be deeply missed. “We know you have found peace, we know you have found happiness, but we will miss you every single day!” she said.
Courtney’s love for Bali, which she considered her “second home”, was evident in her family’s decision to cremate her remains on the island. “We wish to honour her and leave a part of her here,” Kiana said.

The news of Courtney’s passing has sent shockwaves through the music industry, with tributes pouring in from fans and fellow artists.
Talent agency That Sound praised Courtney as the “heartbeat of every party”, saying “Today, we mourn the loss of an incredible soul who brought joy, energy and passion to everywhere she graced.”
Courtney’s family plans to return to Melbourne with her ashes, where they will celebrate her life in true Courtney style.
