Iconic country music star Buck White has left us at the age of 94.
As a member of the successful American country music group The Whites, Buck was known for his incredible talent and unforgettable songs like “You Put the Blue In Me”, which he sang alongside his daughters Sharon and Cheryl White.
A Life Well-Lived
Buck’s heartbroken daughters confirmed the sad news on Facebook, saying that he “lived a full life and finished well”.
The statement, written by White’s daughters Sharon, Cheryl, Rosie, and Melissa, has garnered thousands of likes and tributes from fans and friends.
They remembered their dad as not only a wonderful musician but also as “fun-loving and full of mischief”.
A Legendary Music Career
The Whites, hailing from Texas, are members of The Grand Ole Opry and have been since the ’80s.
They’re an award-winning music group, with two Grammy Award wins under their belt, including Best Southern, Country or Bluegrass Gospel Album for “Salt of the Earth”.
Some of their other popular songs include “Forever You”, “Doing it by the Book”, “He Took Your Place”, and “Keep on the Sunny Side”.
Buck collaborated with musician Ricky Skaggs, his son-in-law, over the years.
Tributes Pour In
Tributes have been flowing in on social media, with fans and friends remembering Buck as a “sweet talented man” and a “great man”.
Nashville’s Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum shared a post in honour of the late Buck, saying: “His versatility was a key ingredient in his success.”
A Lasting Legacy
Buck’s daughters said that he was a great dad who taught them to put Jesus first always, and that his great loves were the Lord, their mother, his family, and music.
He will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on through his music and the memories he created with his family and fans. No official cause of death has been shared, and funeral details have not been announced yet.
