A devastating update has emerged in the search for a 23-year-old man who went missing after falling from a boat on the Murray River.
The incident occurred near the Five Mile boat ramp in Moama, and a massive search operation was launched to find the young boater.
The Search Efforts
The search began on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, around 7:30 pm, with officers from Murray River Police District and Victoria Police responding to the emergency.
A multi-agency team, including Marine Rescue NSW, was involved in the search, but it was suspended due to poor visibility around 8:45 pm.
The search resumed the next day, Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 8:30 am, with a larger team, including police divers from NSW and Victoria, Marine Area Command, and SES.
Despite their best efforts, there was no sign of the missing man, and the search continued until 7:30 pm.
A Sad Discovery
The search resumed again on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at 7:00 am, with the Victorian Rescue Agency (VRA) joining the operation.
Tragically, around 9:45 am, Victoria Police divers located a body south of the Five Mile boat ramp.
Investigation Underway
While the body is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of the missing 23-year-old man. A report will be prepared for the Coroner, and the investigation is ongoing.
