Temperatures are set to soar to extreme heights in Queensland and NSW, with some areas expected to reach a scorching 46C.
Yes, you read that right – 46C! If you’re living in Birdsville, near the Queensland-Northern Territory border, get ready to swelter through the hottest day of the week on Wednesday.

What Does This Mean for You?
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued an extreme heatwave warning for the Southeast Coast District, which includes Brisbane, from Tuesday to Friday.
Other areas in Queensland, including the Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, have been issued a severe heatwave warning. So, what can you do to stay safe?
Staying Safe in the Heat
First and foremost, stay hydrated! Drink plenty of water throughout the day to avoid dehydration.
If you don’t have air conditioning at home, find a cool place to hang out, like a library or shopping center.
And don’t forget about your pets – make sure they have plenty of water and a cool place to rest.
Heatwave Warnings for NSW
NSW isn’t immune to the heatwave either. Nyngan in central NSW is forecast to reach 43C on Wednesday, while other areas, including Cobar, Narromine, and Coonamble, are expected to hit 41C.
Dubbo is on track to reach 40C, while Penrith is tipped to hit 39C. If you’re living in these areas, make sure to take necessary precautions to stay cool.
What’s the Forecast Looking Like?
The heatwave is expected to continue throughout the week, with temperatures slowly dropping over the weekend.
But don’t think the heat is going away anytime soon – temperatures in Melbourne are set to rise from 21C on Wednesday to 29C by Sunday.
Adelaide is tipped to hit 37C on Sunday, while Hobart is set to peak at 24C on Saturday.
Stay safe, and stay cool!
