A devastating scene unfolded in central Queensland on Sunday night, leaving a community in shock.
A two-month-old baby girl was found unresponsive at a home in Gracemere, near Rockhampton, and despite desperate efforts to save her, she tragically passed away.
What Happened?
Emergency services rushed to the scene, but the baby girl was already unconscious and not breathing.
She was rushed to Rockhampton Base Hospital and later airlifted to Brisbane, but sadly, her life-threatening injuries were too severe.
Investigation Underway
The Queensland Police have launched a thorough investigation into the baby girl’s death, with detectives from the Rockhampton Child Protection Investigation Unit and specialist police from the Child Trauma Unit working together to piece together what happened.
The Queensland Ambulance Service confirmed that multiple crews attended the address to treat the child, who had significant life-threatening injuries.
