A shocking incident has unfolded at a NSW train station, leaving a young man dead and a community in mourning.
Jack Westren, 25, was fatally stabbed while waiting to be picked up by his brother from a carpark outside Shellharbour Train Station in Dunmore.
The senseless attack occurred on Tuesday at around 3 pm, and despite paramedics’ best efforts, Jack succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
A Life Cut Short
Jack’s family is still trying to come to terms with the loss of their loved one. His stepfather, Chris O’Brien, expressed his devastation and confusion, saying, “We just can’t understand why he was targeted.”
Jack had suffered a life-changing brain injury at the age of eight and had been trying to secure additional NDIS support.
His family believes that if he had received the necessary support, he might have had a carer with him at the time of the incident.
Arrest Made
Following a thorough investigation, 35-year-old mother of two, Tamara Doust, was arrested at her home in Albion Park Rail and charged with murder.
She appeared in Wollongong Local Court on Wednesday. In a surprising twist, a 15-year-old boy was also taken into custody late on Wednesday.
Police are still trying to piece together the events surrounding the incident and are urging anyone who may have been at the scene to come forward.
A Community in Shock
As the investigation continues, the community is left to grapple with the senseless loss of a young life.
Jack’s family is holding onto the hope that they will get some closure and answers in the coming days.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of supporting those in need and the devastating consequences of violence.
