The Australian sports community is in mourning after the sudden death of West Coast Eagles premiership player Adam Hunter.
The 43-year-old was found unresponsive in his home in Bunbury, south of Perth, just after midnight on February 5, 2025.
What Happened?
According to a statement from WA Police, paramedics were called to the scene and attempted to revive Hunter, but unfortunately, he was declared deceased at the scene.
The police have confirmed that his death is not being treated as suspicious.
A Brilliant Career Cut Short
Hunter had an impressive career with the West Coast Eagles, playing 151 games over eight seasons.
He was a key player in the team’s 2006 premiership win, kicking 29 goals that season, including the final goal of the grand final. He also finished third in the club’s best and fairest in 2007.
Tributes Pour In
West Coast premiership coach John Worsfold paid tribute to Hunter, saying: “I was lucky enough to coach ‘Hunts’ for a long time, and he was just one of those players who put in 100 per cent everything he did at the Club.”
Worsfold remembered Hunter as a player who loved the game more than anyone he’s ever seen, and it’s no surprise that one of the last things he did was attend a footy training session.
A Sad Day for the AFL Community
Hunter’s death comes after a tragic day for the AFL community, which mourned the deaths of Troy Selwood and Dale Tapping on Tuesday.
Hunter was a premiership teammate of Selwood’s twin brother, Adam.
Rest in peace, Adam Hunter. Your contribution to the West Coast Eagles and the AFL community will never be forgotten.
