The NSW Police have taken a significant step in investigating the disturbing anti-Semitic threats made by two nurses from Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital.
Ahmad ‘Rashad’ Nadir, one of the nurses involved, had his home raided by Strike Force Pearl as part of the ongoing investigation.
What Happened?
The incident began when a video call between Nadir, his colleague Sarah Abu Lebdeh, and popular Jewish influencer Max Viefer was recorded on Tuesday night.
The video, which was uploaded to TikTok on Wednesday morning, showed the nurses making vile threats against Israeli patients, stating they would rather “kill” them than treat them.
The video quickly went viral, sparking widespread outrage and condemnation.
Investigation Underway
Following the fallout, Nadir was taken to hospital for assessment on Thursday night due to concerns for his welfare.
Both Nadir and Abu Lebdeh have been stood down from their positions and face potential sacking and revocation of their registration.
Despite hiring lawyers, they have refused to cooperate with police.
NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb stated that detectives will forensically examine the full unedited recording of the conversation, as well as CCTV footage from the hospital.
Pressure Mounts on Prime Minister
The incident has added to the growing pressure on Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to take firmer action against the rising tide of anti-Semitism in Australia.
Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has called for a public debate on Australia’s migration and citizenship processes, citing concerns over the background checks of individuals applying for citizenship.
