Elon Musk, the billionaire CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, has dropped a bombshell on social media platform X.
According to Musk, millions of people listed in the Social Security database are recorded as centenarians (people who live to be 100 or older) with a rather strange annotation: “death field set to FALSE!”
What Does This Mean?
In simpler terms, this means that the Social Security database has a massive number of people listed as being over 100 years old, with some even listed as being over 150 years old!
To put this into perspective, the 2020 US census reported only around 80,000 people aged 100 or older.
Yet, the Social Security database shows:
- Over 20 million people listed as 100 years old or more
- Over 3.9 million people in the 130-139 age range
- Over 3.5 million people in the 140-149 age range
- Over 1.3 million people in the 150-159 age range
Musk’s Theory: Is the System Broken?
Musk jokingly suggested that maybe the reason for these bizarre numbers is that “Twilight is real and there are a lot of vampires collecting Social Security.” ♂️
However, the reality is likely more complex.
Musk also pointed out that the Social Security system’s logic flow diagram is “insane” and that no one person truly understands how it works.
A Potential Case of Government Waste and Fraud?
This revelation has sparked concerns about government waste and potential fraud.
With the Treasury Department recently recouping $31 million in improper payments to dead people, it’s clear that there are issues with the system.
Musk, who was appointed by President Donald Trump to lead the Department of Government Efficiency, aims to uncover and address such problems.
