A Sydney nurse who made headlines for his disgusting anti-Semitic rant has been dropped by his lawyer, Mohamad Sakr.
This news comes just hours after Sakr issued an apology on behalf of his then-client, Ahmad Rashad Nadir.
What Happened?
Nadir, 27, was stood down from his job at Bankstown Hospital after a video surfaced of him and his colleague, Sarah Abu Lebdeh, making threatening comments against Jewish patients.
In the video, Nadir boasted about sending Jewish patients to “hell” and even made a throat-slitting gesture.
The Aftermath
After the video went viral, Nadir was rushed to the hospital on Thursday.
The next day, NSW Police raided his Bankstown home as part of their investigation into the incident.
Nadir apologized for his comments, claiming they were “a joke and a misunderstanding.” However, his apology was met with skepticism, and his lawyer, Sakr, also issued a separate apology on Monday.
Lawyer Drops Client
In a surprise move, Sakr told Daily Mail Australia that he had terminated his relationship with Nadir.
“I do not act for him any longer,” Sakr said, refusing to disclose why the relationship ended.
The Investigation Continues
Detectives have yet to formally interview Nadir or Abu Lebdeh or lay any charges.
However, police are taking the incident seriously, and officers from Strike Force Pearl have decided to travel to Israel to take a statement from the Israeli influencer who recorded the video, Max Veifer.
A Refugee Success Story Turned Sour
Nadir’s story is a shocking example of how a refugee success story can turn sour. He came to Australia as a 7-year-old boy after his father was killed in the war in Afghanistan.
He was granted asylum and went on to become a nurse, even being celebrated as an example of how migrants from war-torn countries could forge a new life in Australia.
What’s Next?
Both Nadir and Abu Lebdeh have been banned from practicing as nurses anywhere in Australia.
The investigation is ongoing, and it remains to be seen what consequences Nadir will face for his vile comments.
One thing is certain, however – his actions have caused widespread outrage and hurt, and he will have to face the consequences of his words.
