A viral video has left viewers stunned after revealing the disgusting condition of a Sydney home.
The house, which was filled with rubbish piled to the ceiling, has sparked outrage and sadness among those who have seen the footage.
A Home Overwhelmed with Waste
As soon as you step inside, the extent of the mess becomes clear. Trash is scattered everywhere – on the floors, tables, sofas, and even the piano and space beneath the bed.
The kitchen is no exception, with waste covering every surface, including the counters and fridge. The bathtub is also filled with debris, making it impossible to use.
A Room Overflowing with Aluminum Cans
One of the most shocking sights is a room overflowing with aluminum cans, stacked so high they nearly reach the ceiling.
The sheer volume of cans has made it impossible to fully open the door, forcing the person filming the video to kick it down.
Amid the chaos, signs of life remain, including a fridge that’s still running despite being filled with rubbish, and family photos hanging on the walls.
Meet the Man Behind the Cleanup
Nathan Stafford, the man behind the camera, has taken on the massive task of cleaning up the Sydney home. Stafford, who is known for assisting vulnerable groups, has offered his help free of charge.
“This place has been trashed and I’m going to help this family out,” he wrote on social media. For Stafford, it’s about giving back to the community and making a difference in people’s lives.
The Story Behind the Mess
The house belonged to a grandmother who died in a nursing home not long ago. Her three children, who didn’t all live locally or see eye to eye, had left the house in a state of disarray.
One of her grandchildren had been living in the house for a few months until a real estate agent discovered the home’s condition and told them they had to move out. Stafford was contacted to help clean up the house before it’s listed for sale, all at no cost to the family.
Viewers React with Shock and Sadness
Viewers on social media have been left shocked and saddened by the footage. “How could a house get like that!!!”, one comment reads. ”
Sorry but that is disgusting. No excuse to live in that,” another said. Some viewers have even begun speculating about how much money the massive pile of cans could fetch through recycling.
In response, Stafford said that all money from the cans will be donated to his favorite charity, the Heart Centre for Kids at the Sydney Children’s Hospital.
The Cleanup Continues
Stafford spent six hours cleaning the house on Monday and plans to continue the cleanup on Wednesday after a work trip to Melbourne.
The video has sparked a mix of emotions, from outrage to sadness, but also a sense of gratitude towards Stafford for his selfless act.
As one viewer commented, “Where do you even start….” The cleanup may be a long and difficult process, but with Stafford’s help, the family can start to rebuild and create new memories in their home.
