A devastating case has rocked the community of Rockhampton, where a 20-year-old father has been charged with the murder of his 10-week-old baby girl.
The infant was found unresponsive and not breathing at a home in Gracemere on January 19, and unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries three days later.
The Tragic Events Unfolded
The baby was discovered unconscious at around 11:15 pm and was rushed to Rockhampton Base Hospital.
She was later airlifted to a Brisbane hospital for specialised treatment, but sadly, her injuries were too severe.
The police investigation, led by the Child Protection and Child Trauma Unit, revealed that the baby’s father, Tyrone Grearly, was arrested and charged with murder.
A Traumatic Experience for All Involved
Detective Inspector Luke Peachey described the ordeal as “very traumatic for all involved.”
With years of experience in investigations, Peachey admitted that this case was particularly disturbing.
While the details of the baby’s injuries are not publicly disclosed, Peachey confirmed that they were “substantial.” The police have also clarified that the baby’s foster grandparents, who were taking care of her at their home, were not involved in her death.
Justice Will Be Served
As the community mourns the loss of this young life, the authorities are working tirelessly to ensure that justice is served.
The case is a stark reminder of the importance of protecting our most vulnerable members of society. We will continue to follow this story and provide updates as more information becomes available.
