Kylie Minogue has kicked off her highly-anticipated Tension tour in Perth, but it seems not all fans are impressed.
Despite her enthusiastic post-show post on Instagram, where she shared a photo with her backup dancers, many fans took to social media to express their disappointment with the show.
What Went Wrong?
The concert, which was held at Perth's RAC Arena, was criticized for being "cheap" and "basic".
Fans who paid between $149.90 to $299.90 for tickets felt that the show didn't live up to their expectations. One fan wrote, "I'm sorry but for what I saw so far, I'd never expect such a basic and cheap looking show."
Another fan added, "We love and support you, Queen.
But let's be honest, the structure of the show was disappointing. There was a lack of creativity."
Fans Speak Out
The criticism didn't stop there. Many fans felt that the show lacked the magic of Kylie's previous tours.
"The music and set list are great but where is the show, Kylie? It just looks very cheaply put together just to make money for the label," one fan wrote. However, not all fans were disappointed.
Some took to social media to express their love for the show, with one fan writing, "Kylie!!!! Perth show was UNREAL!!!!!!"
What's Next for the Tension Tour?
Despite the mixed reviews, Kylie Minogue seems excited to continue her tour.
She shared a photo of herself at RAC Arena, writing, "TENSION TOUR ... We have LIFT OFF. Oh Perth, what a special group of Lovers to share opening night with!"
The tour will head to Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney this month and early next month, before making its way to Asia, North America, Europe, and South America.
A New Era for Kylie Minogue
The Tension tour comes after the release of Kylie's single Padam, Padam, which stormed to the top of the charts globally and won the inaugural Grammy for Best Pop Dance Recording.
Kylie has said that she can't wait to share "beautiful and wild moments" with her fans on tour. Will she be able to turn things around and deliver a show that her fans will love? Only time will tell.
