A chilling video has surfaced showing a man armed with a machete threatening another man in a busy shopping centre in Canberra.
The incident occurred on Thursday at around 3:15 pm at the Canberra Outlet Centre in Fyshwick, leaving shoppers and staff shaken.
What Happened?
According to eyewitnesses and CCTV footage, a man and a woman were walking through the shopping centre when they were confronted by retail staff.
The man then pulled out a machete from his trousers and pointed it at the staff member, threatening him and other bystanders.
The pair had allegedly stolen a pair of shoes from a store before the confrontation.
Investigation Underway
Fortunately, no one was physically harmed during the incident, but staff and shoppers were left emotionally shaken. The man and woman fled the scene, and police are still searching for them.
ACT Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about the pair's whereabouts to come forward.
Descriptions of the Suspects
The man is described as Caucasian with a solid build and mullet-style dark hair, wearing a black T-shirt, light-coloured jeans, and blue sneakers. He was also carrying a black backpack.
The woman is Caucasian with long, straight dark hair and glasses, wearing a dark strapless crop top, grey bike shorts, and blue and white sneakers.
She was carrying a large black tote bag and a black handbag.
