A disturbing video has emerged showing a mother being taken down by police in Swansea, South Wales, while her baby daughter watches in horror.
The incident, which took place last July, has sparked outrage and raised questions about police handling of the situation.
What Happened?
The mother had contacted police earlier in the day to report a man who she alleged had flashed her baby daughter.
However, after an investigation, police determined that the man was actually homeless and his clothes had been ripped, causing the exposure.
The mother was furious with the decision and became "verbally abusive and aggressive" towards the officers, leading to her detention.
The Confrontation
The video footage, published on Facebook, shows the mother pushing a pram on a busy high street while shouting at the police.
She tells them, "I have no time for you. Goodbye then. I will walk away because you are a useless piece of s***."
As she turns to walk away, the officers follow her, and one reaches out to warn her to "watch your language."
The situation quickly escalates, with the mother spinning around to scream, "Don't push me! Don't push me!"
The Takedown
Before the situation gets out of hand, one officer is forced to take the screaming baby away, while the other rugby tackles the mother to the ground.
The officer gets her into a headlock, repeatedly telling her to "calm down." The mother shouts back, "Get off of me in front of my daughter. I'm not grabbing you."
The officer responds, "Stop thrashing. Calm down," but the mother continues to scream, "Get off of me in front of my kid."
The Aftermath
Police later confirmed that the woman was de-arrested. A spokesman for South Wales Police said, "South Wales Police received a report of a man exposing himself on Oxford Street in Swansea city centre at 2:30 pm on July 5, last year.
It later transpired that the man was in fact homeless, and his clothing was ripped. Support was provided to the male, and necessary referrals were made."
The incident has raised questions about police handling of the situation and the use of force against the mother.
