Comedian and TV personality Rosie O'Donnell has officially made the shocking announcement that she has left the United States and moved to Ireland with her 12-year-old daughter Dakota.
In a recent TikTok video, O'Donnell revealed that she made the big move on January 15 and is loving her new life in the Emerald Isle.
A New Chapter in Ireland
O'Donnell, 62, gushed about the warm welcome she's received from the Irish people, saying they're "so loving and so kind, so welcoming."
She's also in the process of getting her Irish citizenship, thanks to her grandparents being from the country.
The move was a personal decision, driven by her desire to give her daughter a better life and escape the tumultuous political climate in the US.
Why Ireland?
So, what made O'Donnell choose Ireland as her new home? The comedian cited the country's friendly atmosphere and her own heritage as major factors.
She's already met many new people and is enjoying exploring her new surroundings. But despite the excitement of her new adventure, O'Donnell admits she misses her family and friends back in the US.
The Reason Behind Her Move
O'Donnell didn't shy away from discussing the reason behind her decision to leave the US. She hinted that President Donald Trump's policies and the current political climate played a significant role in her choice.
"It's been heartbreaking to see what's happening politically and hard for me personally as well," she said.
O'Donnell hopes that one day, when it's safe for all citizens to have equal rights, she'll consider returning to the US.
Not Alone in Her Decision
O'Donnell isn't the only celebrity to have left the US in recent times. Other stars, like Ellen DeGeneres and Eva Longoria, have also made the move to other countries.
Ellen and her wife Portia de Rossi now live in the English countryside, while Longoria has split her time between Mexico and Spain.
A Message to Her Fans
In her TikTok video, O'Donnell took a moment to address her fans, apologizing for worrying them and thanking them for their support.
She also shared some words of wisdom, urging her followers to "protect your sanity" and "try not to swim in the chaos" of the world.
O'Donnell ended her video by expressing her hope for a better future for the US and encouraging her fans to do what's right.
