The family of Crystal Beale, a 49-year-old woman found dead in the Brisbane River, is urging anyone with information to come forward to help solve the suspicious death.
Crystal’s 22-year-old daughter, Charlie-Rose Wagner, has taken to social media to plead for witnesses to share any details they may have about her mother’s final hours.
A Night Out Turns Tragic
Crystal was last seen alive on February 21, after having dinner with her family at a restaurant in Sunnybank. She was dropped off in West End, at a Ryan St location, around 5:40 am the next morning.
Her body was discovered by a rower in the Brisbane River near Yeronga Reach. Initially, police thought it was a non-suspicious death, but after further investigation, they launched a homicide inquiry.
Investigation Ongoing
Detective Acting Inspector Rod Watts said Crystal was visiting family and friends in the area, and her movements after being dropped off in West End are still unclear.
“We’re trying to piece together her movements after that,” Inspector Watts said. “We know she was at Sunnybank with her family and friends a few hours prior to going missing, and then she’s gone to West End, where she’s last seen.”
Police are considering several lines of inquiry, including a possible random attack.
Family Struggling to Cope
Crystal’s family, including her 22-year-old daughter and 15-year-old son, are struggling to come to terms with their loss.
“Her death in these circumstances is horrific, and we’re committed to seeking justice for her and her family,” Inspector Watts said. The family is desperate for answers, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
