After a long and challenging battle with oral cancer, Australian music legend John Farnham has been pictured in public for the first time in months.
The 75-year-old singer stepped out to celebrate his wife Jillian's 70th birthday at Melbourne's renowned Italian restaurant, Grossi Florentino.
A Family Affair
Farnham was all smiles as he posed for a family photo with Jillian, his wife of 50 years, and their sons Robert and James, along with their partners Melissa and Tessa.
The photo, shared on Instagram by Robert, was captioned: "Happy birthday 70th to mum! Love u x."
Robert also posted several videos on his Instagram Stories, capturing Farnham enjoying dinner and conversation with loved ones at the gathering.
A Tough Few Years
The past few years have been challenging for the Farnham family, following John's cancer diagnosis in August 2022.
Farnham underwent a gruelling 11-and-a-half-hour surgery to remove a tumour from his mouth, followed by eight weeks of radiation therapy.
At the same time, son James faced his own health battle, undergoing major surgery for diverticular disease after complications led to perforations in his bowel.
On the Road to Recovery
Despite the challenges, the Farnham family is looking forward to welcoming a new addition - James and his partner Tessa are expecting a baby boy!
James recently appeared on Sunrise to provide an update on his father's health, saying: "He's doing great, he's doing really well, walking around, kicking goals … annoying mum."
The family is also promoting cancer awareness and fundraising events, with Robert and James becoming Daffodil Day ambassadors for the Cancer Council.
A Heartfelt Message
James recently shared an emotional message on Instagram, expressing gratitude to his medical team and his family for their support during his health battle.
"I also wouldn’t have been able to do any of the last six months without my family’s help and especially my partner Tessa. You really are my heart and soul boo and I love you so much," he wrote.
Giving Back
Since John's diagnosis, the Farnham family has been actively involved in supporting cancer charities.
They regularly promote events such as Cancer Research Giving Day to help raise awareness and funds for cancer research.
It's clear that the Farnham family is committed to making a positive impact, even in the toughest of times.
