A shocking daylight attack on a busy city street in Sydney has left three people with gunshot wounds.
The incident occurred on Monday at around 1:15 pm on South Parade in Auburn, opposite the local railway station and outside a popular kebab shop.
What Happened?
Emergency services rushed to the scene, where paramedics treated the three victims for their injuries.
Police were quick to respond, setting up a crime scene and closing off roads to ensure public safety.
Witnesses shared disturbing videos on social media, showing paramedics loading one of the victims into an ambulance.
Shock and Outrage
The shooting has sparked widespread condemnation from authorities, with Premier Chris Minns describing it as “shockingly brazen.”
He vowed that those responsible would face the full force of the law, saying, “People committing this kind of violence can expect to be arrested, charged, and to spend years behind bars.”
Community in Shock
Police Minister Yasmin Catley echoed the Premier’s sentiments, saying, “This kind of violence has no place in our community.
It’s horrifying, it’s unacceptable, and it shakes the sense of safety we all deserve.”
Her thoughts are with the victims and their families, who are likely to be traumatized by the incident.
Investigation Underway
The case will likely be taken over by the mega police task force, Falcon, which was set up in late May to tackle the rising number of public shootings in Sydney.
With over 100 detectives and 50 officers on board, the task force is determined to bring the perpetrators to justice.
The shooting is the latest in a string of violent incidents, including the tragic murder of innocent plumber John Versace, who was killed in a case of mistaken identity on May 19.
Police are still searching for the men responsible for his death.
