Australians living on the New South Wales coast have been warned to prepare for intense wind and rain as a low-pressure system is expected to intensify over the weekend.
East Coast Low to Bring Heavy Rain and Damaging Winds
A low-pressure system will sweep over the state’s coastal areas from early next week, bringing with it showers and wind gusts that could escalate into heavy rainfall and damaging winds.
The system is expected to linger on the east coast for at least 24 hours, according to Weatherzone meteorologist Felix Levesque.
Weatherzone’s modelling has predicted high sea level pressure and 24-hour rainfall, with some areas on the Mid North Coast, Hunter, and Central Coast expected to see up to 300mm of rain.
Waves could reach as high as 13 meters near coastal parts of these regions between Tuesday and Thursday.
