A teenager has been charged with the fatal stabbing of Greg Josephson, the 58-year-old co-founder of Universal Store, at a house party in Brisbane.
The altercation allegedly took place at Mr Josephson’s three-storey home in Clayfield, an affluent inner northern Brisbane suburb, on Thursday night.
The 15-year-old, who attended three different schools, including two exclusive private boys’ colleges, has been accused of stabbing Mr Josephson to death.
Police claim an altercation broke out between the two, who are believed to know each other.
Tragic Events Unfold
About 30 teenagers, many from private schools, had attended the party to celebrate the end of the school term, unaware of the tragedy unfolding upstairs.
When police arrived, they found Mr Josephson’s body upstairs and arrested the teenager soon after.
CCTV footage shows the accused teenager walking across a patio area at a nearby cafe, wringing his hands, before squeezing into a narrow rubbish area at the back of the venue.
Police arrested him at around 8:15 pm after he called Triple-0.
Investigation Continues
On Saturday, forensic police continued to search the Oriel Road property, which the Josephson family had been in the process of selling to move to the Sunshine Coast.
The 15-year-old’s case was listed in Brisbane Children’s Court on Friday and adjourned until September 2.
Mr Josephson co-founded Universal Store with his brother Michael in 1999, building an Australia-wide network of 53 stores.
He also built a multimillion-dollar property portfolio, including the $13.9 million Noosa Reef Hotel on the Sunshine Coast.
Queensland Police are urging anyone with information or CCTV footage from the area to come forward to assist with the investigation.
