A low-pressure system is set to intensify, bringing two days of heavy rain and strong winds to eastern Australia.
Sydney is expected to bear the brunt of the bad weather, with rain totals predicted to exceed 200mm on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Senior bureau forecaster Angus Hines said the persistent rainfall could result in flooding, with eastern rivers rising.
“We also anticipate strong or damaging wind gusts across much of eastern NSW again,” he warned.
Coastal waters are expected to be particularly dangerous, with the risk of inundation or erosion.
It’s going to be a wild and busy couple of days, but the good news is that the weather should calm down by Thursday.
