Georgia Harrison, 32, is stranded in Turkey after a drunken blunder in her hotel room left it “unusable.”
She’s now facing a £15,000 bill and is barred from leaving the country until she pays up.
The Chaos Unfolds
Georgia was celebrating her boyfriend’s new teeth at the Lexia Hotel in Antalya when the party got out of hand.
She admits to getting drunk and damaging the room, including breaking the shower screen and TV. But things took a turn for the worse when she tried to leave without declaring the damage.
According to Georgia, she was thrown into a Turkish cell packed with “hundreds of men” and held for several days. She’s now speaking out about her ordeal, claiming she was advised by her legal team to “stay quiet” about the extent of the damage.
The Hotel’s Side of the Story
The Lexia Hotel has issued a statement, along with photos showing the full extent of the damage.
According to the hotel, Georgia’s actions left the room “unusable” – the shower cabin was “completely broken,” the LCD TV was “removed and rendered unusable,” and the outer window was “broken by an object thrown from inside.”
The hotel also claims that bed sheets and towel sets were “rendered unusable” and that they found “traces of drinks and food” on the ceiling and walls.
The repair process took approximately one month, and the hotel suffered financial damage as a result.
Georgia’s Plea
Georgia has set up a GoFundMe page to raise the £15,000 needed to pay for the damages. She’s desperate to get home to her 12-year-old daughter and is apologizing for her actions.
“I know I did wrong and I regret being so stupid to have damaged the hotel,” she wrote. “I’m sorry I was scared and I just tried to get away from it by trying to leave.”
Georgia’s story serves as a cautionary tale for holidaymakers – a moment of recklessness can have serious consequences. Let’s hope she’s able to get back home to her daughter soon.
