Australian actor Julian McMahon, known for his iconic role in Nip/Tuck, has sadly passed away at the age of 56 after a private battle with cancer.
McMahon’s wife, Kelly, confirmed the news in a statement to Deadline, saying: “With an open heart, I wish to share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer.”
A Life of Joy and Passion
Julian loved life, his family, friends, work, and fans. He wanted to bring joy into as many lives as possible. McMahon’s family has asked for support during this difficult time to allow them to grieve in privacy.
As an actor, McMahon had a long and successful career, starting with a role on the Australian soap opera The Power, The Passion in 1989.
He then made a move to the US, where he landed recurring roles in TV shows like Another World, Profiler, Charmed, and Nip/Tuck.
Nip/Tuck and Beyond
McMahon’s most famous role was as Dr. Christian Troy in Nip/Tuck, which ran for six seasons. He earned a Golden Globe nomination for his portrayal in the series.
More recently, he starred in the Stan Original Film The Surfer, alongside Nicolas Cage, and Netflix’s White House mystery drama The Residence, where he played the character of Stephen Roos, the Australian Prime Minister.
A Legacy of Love and Family
McMahon’s father was Former Prime Minister Sir William McMahon, and his mother was beloved philanthropist Lady Sonia McMahon.
He was also married to singer and actress Dannii Minogue from 1994 to 1995.
He had two other marriages, to Brooke Burns from 1999 to 2001, with whom he shares a daughter, Madison Elizabeth, and to Kelly Paniagua in 2014.
