The hip-hop star has abruptly pulled the plug on his upcoming tour of Australia, leaving local fans in shock.
A surprise email from the ticketing company informed fans that the tour was cancelled, just weeks after tickets went on sale.
No Reason Given for Cancellation
Tour promoter Live Nation confirmed that the 12 shows scheduled for Sydney and Melbourne in November and December will no longer be going ahead.
A spokesperson said, “We regret to advise that USHER’s Australian tour, scheduled to take place in November/December, will no longer be proceeding.”
All ticket holders will receive an automatic refund, with further refund inquiries directed to the point of purchase.
Refunds to Take Up to 30 Business Days
According to Ticketek, refunds will be processed in full to the original payment method used, with customers not needing to take any action.
However, customers who purchased tickets at a Ticketek Agency or using Ticketek Gift Vouchers will need to provide additional information to process their refund.
Usher’s Tour Was a Long Time Coming
The eight-time Grammy winner was set to play six concerts at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena and a further six at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena.
This would have been Usher’s first headline tour in Australia since 2011, and fans were eagerly anticipating his return.
Fans React to Cancellation on Social Media
One fan, Jacinda Chenelle, took to TikTok, saying she “wasn’t surprised” by the cancellation, citing high ticket prices and oversold shows.
Many fans were disheartened by the expensive ticket prices, with the ‘Ultimate Meet and Greet VIP Lounge Experience’ marketed at a whopping $2792.85.
Usher is yet to address the cancellation on social media, leaving fans wondering what went wrong.
