Tragedy Strikes in Far North Queensland
A devastating paragliding accident has claimed the life of a 63-year-old man in Far North Queensland.
The man, from Utchee Creek, was participating in the thrilling but risky sport when the unthinkable happened.
The Accident Unfolds
The incident occurred in Mena Creek, south-west of Innisfail, around 5:40 pm yesterday. Emergency services rushed to Polich Road, where they found the man with severe and multiple leg injuries.
The extent of his injuries was so critical that he didn’t survive the journey to the hospital.
A Fatal Fall
According to a Queensland Ambulance spokesperson, the man fell approximately 20 meters from a motorized parachute.
This tragic fall, while enjoying the beautiful landscapes of Far North Queensland from above, unfortunately, ended in the worst possible way. The man was on his way to Cairns Hospital when he succumbed to his injuries.
Investigation Underway
Police are now working on a report for the coroner to understand the circumstances surrounding this aviation incident.
As the investigation unfolds, it will hopefully shed light on what went wrong and how such tragedies can be prevented in the future.
For now, the community mourns the loss of a life that was taken too soon in a pursuit of adventure and thrill.
