A popular Spanish TV presenter, known for her infectious positivity and love for adventure, has died in a horrific base jumping accident in Spain.
Marta Jiménez, 34, was a beloved figure on the chat show El Hormiguero, or “The Anthill,” bringing excitement to millions of viewers around Spain.
A Fatal Expedition
Sunday’s expedition in the Chistau Valley, near the north-eastern city of Huesca, ended in tragedy when Marta had an accident while base jumping.
Rescue teams rushed to the scene, but unfortunately, they were unable to save her. A helicopter found Marta’s lifeless body, and she was later transported to the Institute of Legal Medicine in Huesca for a post-mortem.
A Shining Star on TV
Marta was a beaming presence on TV, celebrating each challenge she completed with shouts of joy. She even jumped from a 197ft crane in one of the show’s most memorable moments last October.
Touching Tributes Pour In
The host of the show, Pablo Motos, paid tribute to Marta on Instagram, saying: “Marta has left us, the adrenaline woman, she lost her life doing what she loved most.”
Thousands of fans have also paid tribute to Marta on social media, remembering her joy, vitality, and courage.
“Your joy and vitality will always accompany us! Fly high Marta,” wrote one fan.
Another wrote: “I’m so sorry. A hug to all your family, friends, and colleagues.”
A third said: “I read the news and remembered the moments she gave us. Best wishes to all her family, friends, colleagues that loved her.”
