Two former directors of an animal rescue charity in South Australia are facing a staggering 44 counts of animal cruelty!
Carole Morris and Shane Jones have been accused of 41 counts of ill-treating an animal and three counts of failing to comply with an animal welfare order.
The charges relate to a horrifying case involving one goat, one camel, two dogs, nine cats, 24 horses, and multiple poultry.
The RSPCA South Australia carried out an inspection at their property in Morgan, in the state’s Riverland area, back in October 2024.
Disturbing Findings
The inspectors found a pig that was unable to use its rear legs and was suffering from a severed spinal cord. Sadly, the pig had to be humanely euthanized.
They also discovered a dog with severe dental disease, which had damaged its jaw so badly it couldn’t eat. And, a horse was found with a chronic maggot-infested wound.
If you witness alleged animal cruelty or neglect, the RSPCA urges you to file an online report or call 1300 477 722.
The case was listed for first mention in Berri Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
