The husband of social media influencer Emilie Kiser may face charges after their three-year-old son, Trigg, drowned in the family pool.
Brad Kiser was looking after Trigg and their newborn son, Theodore, when the tragic incident occurred on May 12.
Emilie, who has over 4.6 million followers across her online platforms, was out with friends at the time of the incident.
According to search warrant applications obtained by The Arizona Republic, Brad told police he lost sight of Trigg for three to five minutes before finding him floating in the pool.
Investigation Reveals Disturbing Details
Trigg had gone to the backyard after eating, and Brad said he saw him playing near the pool, which was not unusual. However, Brad was soon distracted by his newborn son and lost sight of Trigg.
The next time Brad saw Trigg, he was in the pool. Brad jumped in to save him and called 911. First responders administered CPR at the home before rushing Trigg to the hospital in critical condition.
Trigg sadly died six days later.
Police Recommendation and Potential Charges
After a thorough review of the evidence, the Chandler Police Department has submitted the case to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office for further review and potential prosecutorial decisions.
A felony charge of child abuse has been recommended, which carries a minimum sentence of 1.5 years in prison under Arizona law.
Influencer’s Legal Action to Block Public Records Release
In late May, Emilie launched legal action to bar the public release of records about Trigg’s death, claiming they could be used as a “weapon of emotional harm”.
The lawsuit is ongoing, but after a June 3 hearing, the parties agreed to an interim order prohibiting the dissemination of the public records.
