A heartbreaking incident occurred in Darwin on Saturday afternoon when a seven-year-old girl died after being struck by a falling palm tree.
Falling Palm Tree Tragedy in Tiwi Yard
The young girl was playing in the yard of a Tiwi property, north of Darwin, when the incident occurred at around 1:55 pm.
Despite being rushed to Royal Darwin Hospital, the girl sadly passed away in the ambulance.
Another child, an 11-year-old boy, was also injured by the falling palm tree, but fortunately, his injuries were non-life-threatening.
NT Police responded to the scene and are currently investigating the incident, which is not believed to be suspicious.
A report will be prepared for the coroner to determine the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
