A devastating single-vehicle crash has claimed the life of a young passenger in New South Wales.
The incident occurred on Monday when a car veered off Mount Darragh Rd at Mount Darragh, an hour southwest of Bega, and crashed into a tree around 10:30 am.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, but unfortunately, they could not revive the front-seat passenger, a man in his 20s, who died at the scene.
Driver Airlifted to Hospital with Internal Injuries
The driver, another man believed to be in his 20s, suffered internal injuries in the crash and was taken to Bega Hospital.
He was later airlifted to Canberra Hospital in a stable condition.
The crash led to the closure of the winding, tree-lined road in both directions, with traffic diverted to the Snowy Mountains Hwy and Imlay Rd.
Investigations into the crash are ongoing, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
Anyone with dashcam footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
