A school bus driver is in critical condition after a serious crash with a truck in western Victoria, leaving three children shaken but uninjured.
The 56-year-old woman was airlifted to Alfred Hospital in Melbourne with internal and possible head injuries after the collision occurred on the Warracknabeal-Stawell road near Minyip, approximately 8:45 a.m. Thursday.
Another person was taken to Horsham Hospital.
Authorities reported that the truck, carrying a load of hay bales, rolled onto its side, resulting in a diesel leak.
The three students on board the bus, en route to a local special school, were transported to a nearby hospital for observation.
Horsham Police Acting Inspector Cameron Ross stated that speed may have been a contributing factor in the crash. “The scene was initially chaotic,” Acting Inspector Ross said. “The truck driver is cooperating with our investigation.”
Police have urged anyone with information to contact Crimestoppers.
