WASHINGTON, D.C. – Attorney General Pam Bondi notified President Donald Trump in May that his name appears multiple times in the government’s files on Jeffrey Epstein, according to reports from the Wall Street Journal and CNN.
The revelation came as the Trump administration faced intense scrutiny over the Justice Department’s decision not to disclose the Epstein files.
Bondi reportedly told the president that he and many other figures were named in the documents, which has sparked controversy over the administration’s handling of the case.
Authorities have emphasized that being mentioned in the files does not imply any wrongdoing.
“The fact is that the President kicked him out of his club for being a creep,” said White House Communications Director Steven Cheung, referring to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Florida.
The Justice Department released a memo on July 7 stating that a review of the documents found no incriminating list of clients who may have been involved with Epstein in a sex-trafficking ring.
The same review found no evidence that Epstein blackmailed prominent people or that he was murdered while in custody.
Despite the controversy, Trump has tried to shift attention to other topics, including unsubstantiated allegations that former President Barack Obama committed “treason” during the 2016 election.
Trump has also directed Bondi to ask a federal court to produce “all pertinent Grand Jury testimony” from federal cases brought against Epstein and his associate, convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell.
The public is urged to contact the Justice Department with any information related to the Epstein case.
