A 23-year-old Australian tourist was found dead in a hotel room in Thalang, north Phuket, on Wednesday morning, according to local authorities.
The deceased, who was scheduled to check out of the hotel the following day, was discovered lying on his bed wearing a black t-shirt and still holding his mobile phone.
Police reported no signs of forced entry or foul play.
A bandage was observed on one of the victim’s arms, which friends claimed was a result of a recent motorcycle accident.
A spokesperson for the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade confirmed that consular assistance is being provided to the family of the deceased.
The exact circumstances surrounding the death are still unclear, and an official investigation is underway.
Anyone with information is urged to contact local authorities or the Australian consulate.
