A man has died in hospital after being tasered by police in Western Australia on Friday.
Western Australia Police Force stated that officers responded to reports of a man behaving erratically on Priestley Street in the Perth suburb of Embleton around 12:30 am.
The man had entered a home of people not known to him, damaging the property in the process.
Aggressive Behavior Leads to Tasering
Police attempted to negotiate with and detain the man, but he continued to behave aggressively.
A taser was deployed by an officer, and the man was restrained, but he appeared to suffer a medical episode.
First-aid was immediately provided by officers, who performed CPR until St John paramedics arrived.
The man was taken to Perth Royal Hospital, where he later died, police said.
Investigation Launched
A major investigation has been launched into the death of the man following an incident in Embleton, WA.
The Major Crime Division and Internal Affairs Unit will investigate the man’s death as a death in police custody.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
