A new photograph showing athletes Nathan Cleary and Mary Fowler together has surfaced online, countering recent public speculation about the couple’s relationship status.
Scrutiny was sparked after a noticeable decrease in their social media interactions and observations of their recent activities since Fowler returned to Australia.
The image, posted last week by an organisation named Ability Hub Services, shows the couple smiling alongside a fan.
The photo was reportedly taken during a recent bowling outing, one of several occasions the pair have met up since Fowler’s return to the country. Fowler also visited Cleary’s home on Friday.
Scrutiny Follows Social Media Changes
The speculation arose after followers noted changes in the couple’s public online activity.
Both Cleary, 27, and Fowler, 22, who have frequently posted pictures of each other since their relationship became public in 2023, have not done so in recent months.
Observers also noted a lack of engagement on each other’s recent posts, including Cleary’s post-State of Origin reflection and Fowler’s photos of her time back in Australia.
The speculation was further fueled when Cleary was not seen meeting Fowler upon her arrival at the airport.
Fowler is currently in Australia recovering from a significant anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury she sustained while playing for her club, Manchester City.
The 22-year-old is undergoing rehabilitation and is not expected to return to action until next year.
Cleary, meanwhile, is coming off New South Wales’ defeat in the recent State of Origin series.
