A dramatic incident has unfolded at Melbourne’s Tullamarine airport, where a Virgin Australia plane collided with a tug vehicle.
The aircraft, a Boeing 737 typically used for domestic routes, was being towed to the hangar for scheduled maintenance when it suddenly disconnected and hit the tug from the side.
The incident occurred at around 8:40pm on Sunday, with no passengers on board and no ground staff injured.
Damage to the plane
Footage from the scene shows the jet cracked along the front left side, with workers taping up the damage.
Luckily, no flights are expected to be disrupted as a result of the incident, with Virgin Australia confirming that its scheduled flights on Monday will operate as usual.
No further details have been released on the extent of the damage or when the plane will be back in service.
